Altinkum means “Golden Sand” and with its three main beaches which gently shelve into turquoise blue Aegean, you will soon realize how the resort got its name. Beach life is excellent in Altinkum , there are Watersports available. Sun beds and umbrellas are available to rent until sunset at the same time you will be able to get cold drinks and food served from the nearby restaurants. Altinkum is situated on the west Aegean coast of Turkey. Located only about 1 hour from Kusadasi, 1.5 hours from Bodrum and 1.5 hours from Izmir which is the third largest city in Turkey. |

A few minutes outside Altinkum is Didim (Didyma) where the ruins of the famous Apollo Temple are found. This temple's porch originally held 120 columns and Apollo's twin sister, Artemis, also had 120 columns in her temple near Ephesus. Ancient Didyma was not a town, but the home of a god and his priest. In the temple grounds are fragments of its rich decoration including a striking head of Medusa (she of the hair of snakes). Dolphin square is the main centre of Altinkum where you will find many restaurants, bars, shops, there are a variety of restaurants, catering for English palate, although Indian and Italian palates. In Altinkum you can almost eat your way around the world with a great mixture of restaurants offering Chinese, Italian, Indian British and Turkish food. Most of the restaurants offer a free taxi service. |
